Campers
"Camp is great. Everything, the faces, the friends, the peaceful surroundings, the activities, the staff, the perfect blend with Christian Science and everyday life, it just makes CLC so special. I wouldn't be anywhere else next summer!"
“On the LT [Loyalsock Trail] I had a tremendous time. I learned a lot about camping from this. For example, how to start fires, how to hike, and how to make 20 miles of walking fun. My LT [Leadership Training] experience taught me to be more confident about myself.”
“I really don’t know where to begin! I had a great summer. I met so many new people, and I am still keeping in touch with them now. The schedule was very planned and laid out well. All of my activities were so much fun as well as the food. The food was so good, I can’t get back to the regular routine at home. Thank you all for making this a phenomenal, wonderful summer. God bless!”
“I of course had a blast and learned more in one summer than I have learned all year! I really do think of CLC and the people who work there as my home and extended family and I cannot imagine not spending the summer there.”
“My first experience at Crystal Lake was a blast. It was so nice when everyone welcomed us to camp when we first got there. I really felt welcomed to Crystal Lake Camps. Thank you so much for having us at CLC. I had the best time of my life. Tim, the mountain biking instructor was so cool, I hope to see him next year. I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR! Go turkeys!”
Parents
“I have never seen my son so happy and content as when we picked him up from camp. He truly did not want to leave and this from a boy who just last summer was afraid to go to camp! The progress we have seen with him in his independence and confidence has been wonderful. He continues to talk about camp – all the friends he made and all the fun and challenging experiences he had. Thank you again for all you have done for him.”
"[My sons] had a great time this summer. They couldn't stop talking about camp all the way home in the car. They asked if they could go for 6 weeks next summer. Sounds like a great idea to me!"
“I am writing to express my appreciation for the loving, supportive camp atmosphere that [my daughter] was a part of the last 5 weeks. Over and over in her letters home she writes about how much ‘I love this camp!’ She has made some wonderful friends, and I’m sure lasting ones. She commented how ‘you can be yourself at camp.’ Thank you so much.”
Staff
“Man, I love camp… It’s awesome that I can touch the lives of campers and better their experience, while still having an amazing time myself.”
“Dear to me [were] the new friends I made. I am so grateful that CLC is available to so many. It amazed me that a tight ship is [run] daily with the campers following along as expected. It is impressive. Thank you so much for giving me the cherished opportunity to be Camp Mom.”
"I am so proud and grateful to have been on your staff in the past, but it is truly touching to see so many of the former campers now in leadership roles at camp. I can remember them as campers in my cabin that first summer I was there, . . . and it makes me realize that being on staff at camp is not just about surviving a wonderful and sometimes grueling eight weeks, but it is about being a part of something much larger, and infinitely more significant. . . . My experiences at CLC played a crucial part in "cementing" me to Christian Science."
"I wanted to send this letter to you commending you on what a wonderful camp you run. I was directed to go there over the summer and to be honest I wasn't quite sure why - but now I see - it was to learn a lesson on unselfishness. I am unable to express in words the amount of gratitude I have towards everything you do for the kids and the counselors. Every time I think about your establishment, I virtually end up in tears, because the care that goes into the foundation of it is endless. I feel that your camp expresses the idea of 'love one another' very well as Jesus wanted us all to do."
"Teaching swimming classes was the first experience I had doing consistent planning and running the waterfront I learned so much about delegating and communicating criticism in a constructive manner."
"I have thought a lot about the marvelous staff and dynamic campers I met last year. I am so glad I was a part of CLC last summer, it was so good for me in teaching me about love, working with others, patience and given me many wonderful memories."
