Crystal Lake Camps accepts applications for staff from individuals who regularly attend (at least 3 times/month) a Christian Science church or College Organization listed in The Christian Science Journal

To get first consideration for a position, your application must be submitted by midnight of February 29, 2012.  Applications submitted after that time will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants who are able to commit to the full Youth Session time frame of June 13-August 5, 2012, will be given priority for all positions.

Character/Personal References

All staff applicants please provide 3 references as indicated below. 

New applicants, or if it has been 2 or more years since you were on staff at CLC (meaning you were last at CLC in 2009 or before): provide the forms to the individuals to be returned to CLC. 

Returning applicants (if you were on CLC staff in 2010 or 2011): the references you list will be called to confirm, no paper forms are needed.

List three people who will complete your reference forms.

DO NOT LIST FAMILY MEMBERS OR RELATIVES.

IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE REFERRAL, you should provide your referrer with the blank form and a stamped envelope pre-addressed to be sent to Crystal Lake Camps.  You should not see the form again once you give it to the referrer.  They may also submit the referral form via email.

ALL APPLICANTS:

  1. Why are you a student of Christian Science?
  2. How do you practice Christian Science on a daily basis?
  3. Please share a recent healing experience.
  4. Have you used alcohol, tobacco, or drugs (of any sort – recreational or prescription) in the past 6 months? If so, why?
  5. The mission of Crystal Lake Camps is, “To promote spiritual growth in campers and staff and through them bless the world.” How do you see yourself playing a part in the accomplishment of the camp’s mission this coming summer?

Additionally, for NEW STAFF, including those who have not been on staff at CLC in 2 or more years (you were last at CLC in 2009 or before):

  1. Why would you like to work at Crystal Lake Camps (versus a different camp)?
  2. What do you feel are your top 3 character strengths? Please include examples of how you have applied these strengths.

Employment Statement
As an applicant for a staff position with Crystal Lake Camps, and by signing my name below, I recognize and agree that a member of the CLC staff holds a position of great trust, responsibility, and honor. Being a role model for campers, while carrying out demanding responsibilities and living up to the trust that my campers’ parents have put in me to care for their child, is a job I want to fulfill. Being a positive role model means that I understand my behavior and opinions have the potential to influence campers’ current and future behavior and choices.

My desire to work at Crystal Lake Camps includes:

  1. A faithful and dedicated daily study of Christian Science, which I will apply to all functions of camp.
  2. An affirmation that I will not use or verbally support the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs of any sort, or profanity.
  3. An affirmation that I will maintain a neat and clean personal appearance, be appropriately dressed, and maintain my personal living area
    with the same high expectations that are placed on the campers.
  4. A commitment to upholding high moral standards based in honesty and not bearing false witness in my personal and work relationships.
  5. A commitment to not participate in any sexual activity outside of marriage, and I will avoid the appearance of inappropriate activity.
  6. An affirmation that I will not engage in, nor allow the appearance of, any type of intimate relationship with any camper.
  7. An agreement that I will keep my past and current personal relationships private and not allow them to become the topic of conversation among campers.
  8. Recognition that a CLC staff member is entrusted with camper safety and well being and serves as a role model at all times.
  9. Giving my full attention to the campers I am responsible for each day, being sure each individual camper in my cabin and activities gets
    some period of one-on-one attention from me every day.
  10. A willingness to go above and beyond, to see a need at camp and be the person to fulfill that need.


    I authorize investigation of all statements herein and release Crystal Lake Camps (“the camp”) and all others from liability in connection with the same. I understand that, if employed I will be an at-will employee and that any agreement to the contrary must be in writing and signed by both the Camp Director AND the Executive Director of the camp. I also understand that untrue, misleading, or omitted information herein may result in dismissal, regardless of the time of discovery by the camp.
